About The Event
Palomar offers a slice of mountain paradise just a short drive away. Doane Meadow is a wonderful, generally flat meadow with ancient valley oaks, black oaks, pine, and cedar trees to name a few. The meadow has several creeks running through it and converge at the lower end. It will be a wonderful place to collect and examine Autumn leaves.
The hike is 3 to 4.5 miles depending on optional add on loops. Elevation gain is just under 400 ft for the whole 4.5 mile option so it would be a moderate hike. The trails vary from well-tracked wide trails to smaller single track animal style trails in the meadow. There may be some areas where a stroller can go, but it will be limiting.
Be prepared for weather that ranges from cool and crisp (30-55 degrees) to warm and dry (65-75 degrees) depending on the day.
Bring your water, snacks, warmth (layers), sun protection, and nature journals!
